Be Inspired - Clean and Simple

Hello and Welcome!! Today is the first Be Inspired Blog Hop of the year and today we are going Clean and Simple.  Which is not so much my style.  I have made what I would like to call an easy card featuring alot of white.  Clean and Siple cards generally have alot of white space.

Below you will find a standard card 5.5 x 8.5, scored at 4.25"
The first Basic White layer is 4 x 5.25"
The Daffodil Delight layer is 3 x 4.25"

Using the Fragrant Layers Bundle, I die cut a dozen flowers then arranged them on the Daffodil layer.  Once I was happy with the layout I attached them using mini dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Fragrant Layers bundle and I had to add some twine.  My bad, as Im writing this and after I took the pictures I realized I completely for got any bling!!
Fire me!!

I chose the Daffodil layer when I realized that putting a yellow centre in the flowers wasn't happening without going a bit past the 'simple' route.  However, Had I also die cut 12 yellow flowers I could have saved and swapped the middles and made 2 cards.  Just an idea for anyone who wants to go the extra mile.  Then I would have skipped the Daffodil layer for another Basic White Layer.  And I probablu would have not used the dimensionals??  Well that will be up to you should you feel 'inspired' to give it a try.  I really hope you do!!

Please keep hopping along and see what the other team members have created with today's theme.  I can't wait to check them out myself!!

AWOW - Paper Tearing This or That

Happy New Year friends!!

Today we are Tearing Paper with a side of This or That

We have been inspired by Jan Clothier, a former Artisan and a frequent user of the 'This or That' posts.  I hope I have done her justice by tearing my paper in 2 directions.

For the top card I cut my paper at 5.25" and tore it horizontally and spaced it out leaving the darker cardstock showing from underneath.  They are attached to a piece of Pool Party that is 4 1/4 x 5 3/8" and mounted on an 4.25 x 11", scored at 5.5" Basic White cardbase.

I used the Lovely Arrangements Bundle.  And the new Vellum!! I used the rectangular circle die and a few leaves from the dies.  I also cut some from Basic white.  The detail on the deaves is awesome!!  This is a 'Must Have' Bundle in my opinion!!!

On the second card, I tore the 4.25" strip of paper vertically and overlapped them and mostly cover us the Pool Party Cardstock.  I should mention that the paper I am tearing is Pool Party 2-toned cardstock and has a white core.  I just LOVE this cardstock!!
On both cards I chose to leave the flowers white.  But there is Wink of Stella on the flower middles as well as both the Basic White and Vellum leaves.  I finished my card with the new Secret Sea open weave ribbon and some new Sparkle Dot Essentials, also in Secret Sea.

So.....
Which do you like better This (top card) or That (bottom card)
Post your answer in the comments!!
I can't decide!!

Please keep hopping along and see what others have done with this theme.
Thanks for stopping by!

AWOW - Sketch Challenge

Welcome back to my blog!! Thanks for coming back. I know my posts are pretty erratic..but life has been pretty busy.  This month we have a sketch to follow.  Y'all know that sketches are my Favourite!!
This year we are caseing each other each month.  This month we are caseing Chris Smith.
Excited to say that I got to meet Chris at Onstage in March!

So Chris gave us a few card sample's of a sketch she uses regularly.  Please take a look.

I am currently obsessed with the Floral Charm suite.
Here is my first ‘version’
It pretty much follows the same layout.

Now I always like to flip a sketch on its side…
Sideways cards are my favourite!!
Here is #2

This sketch reminded me of a fun fold that I Love!!
So the next 2 are versions of that!!

The standard card base of 5.5 x 8.5”, scored at 4.25” was chopped so the front is 3.25”
And the embossed piece or the dsp are 3 1/8 x 5 3/8”

I really hope you enjoyed the cards I made from the amazing Chris Smith inspiration!!
Please keep hopping to see what everyone else has made!!
I’m looking forward to it!!

Bright and Bold is the theme this month and it immediately brought me to rainbows!!
I decided my rainbow would be Strawberry Slush, Timid Tiger, Darling Duckling, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana and Petunia Pop!!
ROYGBIV
A little research on Rainbow order if you will indulge me..or scroll on past to the cards!!
R (red)-Strawberry Slush
O(orange)-Timid Tiger
Y(yellow)-Darling Duckling
G(green)-Granny Apple Green
B(blue)-Coastal Cabana
I(indigo) I skipped
V(violet)-Petunias Pop

Hope you enjoy the rainbow I chose!!
There are endless possibilities
with our colours…
to stay on theme,
I went with the brightest ones!!

I started cutting 3/8” strips out of my chosen colours, I poked around on Pinterest for some inspiration and once I started I couldn’t stop. So I give you 4 cards.

One of which is a fun fold.

I used the Not 29 anymore stamp set. I bought it because the sentiments are kinda funny!!
Who doesn’t appreciate a humorous birthday card!!
Hope you love them as much as I do!!

Please keep hopping to see what the rest of the team has made. I’m looking forward to them!!

Coast to Coast Blog Hop

Hello Friends!! Today I am hopping with the team and we are using a sketch

I have been playing with the Pears bundle and colours.

I used Darling Duckling and Garden Green for my background, stamping on the duckling and embossing the green. Each piece is 2 x 5 3/8”.

I used the dies for a couple white elements, and used the gorgeous new ribbon in Darling Duckling

Then added a pear to the inside.

Hope you like my card!!
Please keep hopping and check out all the cards the rest of the team has made!!

Be Inspired - Floral Fun

Hello Friends!! I am so Excited to tell you I have been invited to join the

Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop!!!

My dear friend Emma Goddard from the Coastal Crafter invited me!! The theme is a perfect start…Floral Fun!! Hope you are sitting down with your favourite beverage and ready for all the gorgeous florals coming your way!!

This group of crafters includes some of the most creative people I know!!

A few I am even lucky enough to call friends!!

I pulled out the new Charming Day bundle and ‘inspired’ by Emma pulled out my water brush!!  The images were heat embossed with Smokey Slate and Clear Embossing powder.  What you do is ink up your image with Versamark, then ink it up with Smokey Slate right on top of the Versamark.  Stamp on watercolour paper, dust the paper with clear embossing powder and bam!! It looks like you have Smokey Slate embossing powder.  You can do this with all the colours.  Just be careful to always use  Versamark first or your Versamark will be stamped with your image.

I used Berry Burst and Lost Lagoon.  I wet the area first with my brush. Then add some water to the ink and lightly add the colour to get the variation in colour to replicate real flowers.

I pulled out the two-toned cardstock I bought on the same we had recently. Chopped it in 1.5” strips, then 1.5” squares. I then roughed up the edges the.

Ran it through the corrugated embossing folder. Arranged them in a checker board pattern, flipping to use both shades of Lost Lagoon on dimensionals on another piece of Lost Lagoon cut at 4 1/8 x 5 1/2

The Cardbase is white. I scored a 4.25 x 11, scored at 5.5”

I finished the card with a sentiment from the Charming Day stamp set, a double linen thread bow and some rhinestones.  I hope you like my card and that you will keep hopping to see what all the other amazingly talented stampers have made!!

Team Hop - Online Exclusives

Hello Friends!!

It’s the 14th of the month!! Team Hop!!

Today we are focusing on the Online Exclusives.

Did you know that we have a whole bunch of products available only online??

They are shaping up to be one of my favourite things!!

My order did not arrive in time for me to showcase some of the new things.  So I pulled out one that I have not done a lot with... Inspired by a new hydrangea that we bought this year.  I have been spending all my time in the garden and not so much time in the craft room.  Hoping to get back in there soon!!

So here is my garden picture, I just LOVE these colours!!

I stamped the large stamp in versamark,
then directly into Smokey Slate without pausing.
Then dusted it with Clear embossing powder right away and then heated to set the powder all on watercolour paper.

Then I set up my watercolouring with a cup of water, my water painter.
I pressed my blocks into Petunia Pop, Boho Blue and Gorgeous Grape,
I don't like to do it in the lids of the stamp cases.

The Stamp set s called Thankful Garden

I finished it late at night, I love my outdoor pictures a bit better,

so there are lots of pictures!

The cardbase is Basic White 5.5 x 11, scored at 4.25"
DSP is 3.75 x 5
Basic White is 3 x 4.75", embossed with the corrugated embossing folder

Hope you like my card!
